How AI is Reshaping My Music World

Some people find their passion in painting or in writing, yet for me music has always been the soul of life. It is the language with which I grew up from dancing on beds to calculating National or Advanced Diploma scores in a music school. But a few years ago AI begin to infiltrate my world, and let me tell you it changed the game.

First, let us recall what the use of AI in music was like: it was reminiscent of the realms of science fiction. What I imagined it to be included, robot generated sensational songs devoid of emotion and invention of artists. Then I fell onto a cycle generator using A. I. and selecting the type of music – genre, mood. Sitting down to write a paper one day, I was having a difficult time coming up with content ideas and thus I decided to give it a shot.

The first loop was… something quite unusual. But it sparked something. It was like the e-crush that pushed us to see the introduction of the marvelous in a new light. Gradually, I started feeding the AI with some of my own melodies and tunes, and subsequently it started giving me some inputs which I felt were original and could be used to build upon my work. That’s not what creativity elimination in writing did – it exceeded my creativity; I was almost forced out of my comfort zone.

Now, AI is already a part of my daily studio life. It is versatile enough that I apply it across every aspect of my work, from creating basic sound effects and processing sounds to infinitely modifying drum sounds. It can understand massive amounts of music and come up with certain chord advancement or melody that relates to a specific type. I find it similar to having an all-knowing musical database at my transfer at the same time having a musical conference participant all in one package.

But here’s the thing: The possibilities that AI is not a magic always comes to my mind. It is in fact a very powerful tool, but they also need to remember that it is only a tool. This necessitates understanding of basic Music Theory as well as having access to a DAW or some capacity for music production.

Here are some tips if you’re curious about dipping your toes into AI music: If you fancy the idea mentioned above and want to start with AI music, here are tips for you:

Start simple: As for the tool, it is equally uncomplicated – there is no shortage of free or relatively cheap AI music generators on the Internet.  It is only deserving to try them once to see how they are run and the kind of creativity they foster out.

Don’t expect perfection: AI and technology are acceptable as a music instrument but not as the ultimate definitive of what music should be since they can also have shortcomings and may call for intervention.  One day convert what they are into what you are trying to say as a first value instead of the last figure of what you should be getting to.

Learn the basics: Your total comprehension of abstract notions in both music theory and music production forms the yard stick by which the effectiveness of teaching an AI what gesture you would like it to perform as well as its ability to function as you would wish would be determined.

Of course, it is not writing musicals, setting up concerts for orchestras, composing the lyrics, to date, however, it is still contributing to the musical industry in so many ways.  Well, let’s prepare for future, all nice-looking and music-lovers like me, here and there.  It may well herald a plethora of audio possibilities to those who have it in their power to discharge harmful products and services.
